The EID Network Best of '07

Goodness! 2007 felt like it was only 365.25 days long! What's that all about? I'm not entirely sure.

Anyway, there were all kinds of things that happened this past year, a lot of which I have already forgotten, unintentionally. So, before I forgot anything more...I received the tremendous privilege of compiling and naming the EID Network picks for the 'Best of '07'. This, for me, is more prestigious than knitting live kittens. I am truly honored. And now, the EID Network Best of '07:

Best song of '07: 'Equally Skilled', from Jon Foreman's

'Equally Skilled', by Jon Foreman:
first solo album, 'Fall -EP'. This song, taken from the book of Micah, chapter 7, has something that many modern songs do not have. Structure. 'Equally Skilled' begins woefully, but in the end, there is a solution. Now, obviously, this song has structure because it was pulled from the Scriptures, but it was very refreshing to hear a song that attempts to reflect the order, and structure of God's Word. I also really enjoy the simplicity of the whole song. A nice, subtle reverb on Foreman's raw vocals, with his warm, bright acoustic guitar make for a beautiful song.

Get 'Equally Skilled' on iTunes.

Best Christmas Song of '07: There were an

'Hibernation Day', by Jars of Clay:
air craft carrier-load of Christmas Albums released this year, and my pick came from one of them; 'Christmas Songs', by Jars of Clay. The song is 'Hibernation Day'. Albeit a little sappy, it is original, fun, and light. I get a wintry chill just listening to 'Hibernation Day', which is nice, because I'm not going to get chilly on my own here in East Texas. [EDITORIAL NOTE: 'Chilly' is a southern term which means cold.]
Get 'Hibernation Day' on iTunes.

Best Film of '07: Amazing Grace. Hey, would you look at that. A clean, well made movie, with a great message. I never saw it coming.

Best Book of '07: Since I haven't read any books
published in '07, I chose a book that was released in the last part of '06: 'The End', book 13 in Lemony Snicket's 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'. I absolutely love the 'Series of Unfortunate Events', though they be children's' books. 'The End' was no exception. It was a perfect closing of an excellent series.
Get The End on Amazon.

Best Website of '07:I have recently discovered an amazingly informative website, ScriptFrenzy.org.

Script Frenzy teaches you all you'll need to know in order to write scripts for the silver screen and the stage.

There you have it, folks, the official picks for The EID Network Best of '07 Awards. What are your thoughts? Agree with the picks? Disagree? Feel free to comment.
